PMS and Menopause
Most women who have low adrenal function have more premenstrual tension as well as increased difficulty during menopause.
The adrenal glands are the only source of the male hormone, testosterone, in women and after menopause are the only source of the female hormones, estrogen and progesterone.
These hormones play a major role in sexual function, physical and psychological well-being, and slowing down the aging process, among other things.
When adrenal function is low, as it is with Adrenal Fatigue, the levels of these hormones can drop so low that a number of unpleasant physical and psychological symptoms occur.
Unfortunately epidemic proportions of women are entering perimenopause and menopause already suffering from varying levels of Adrenal Fatigue. As the ovaries slow their production of estrogen and progesterone, the adrenals have to pick up the slack for menopause to proceed smoothly. When the adrenal glands are already fatigued, they cannot meet this extra demand and, in fact, often become even more depleted. Supporting the adrenals and recovering from Adrenal Fatigue can often reverse this situation.
The dietary supplement programs for adrenal recovery developed by Dr. James Wilson have been very helpful to a number of perimenopausal and menopausal women. Some have been able (under the guidance of their physician) to completely discontinue use of external sources of female hormones after taking Adrenal Rebuilder and other adrenal products. Many others have been able to substantially decrease the amount of hormone they use. This is very exciting because not only are their menopausal and perimenopausal symptoms reduced, but also their overall health is enhanced because of the increased vitality of their adrenal glands.
